'Framing the Unseen' at Tate Modern

During a two-day workshop with undergraduate students from Srishti School of Art and Design and Technology in Bangalore, India, the group explored and interacted with their local environment via performance and photography with the view to show familiar sites to a wider (global) audience. Using a frame sourced from found or cheap materials as a tool, the participants selected objects and observed events to capture the everyday.  

The frame uncovered new layers to the local environment, revealing the potential for re-interpreting the everyday and enabling the group to look at reality and find the fiction and theatre within. 

The Srishti students continue to work with me and students at Central St Martins College of Art, London to investigate the research question ‘Do the simplest concepts (activities) generate the most digital exchange?’‘Framing the Unseen’ is the generator group for Srishti who will be inviting a global audience to collaborate and contribute to the group. They envisage actual sites around the world operating in the same way to create photographic and live events.
