Artist-writer-director Michelle Williams Gamaker works with fictional activism, critiquing the imperialist storytelling of 20th-century cinema. She was joint-winner of Film London’s Jarman Award and recipient of the Stuart Croft Moving Image Award in 2020 and her film The Bang Straws (2021) is shortlisted for the 65th BFI LFF Short Film Award.
